What We See in St. Louis City Homes
Many city homes were built in the 1800s and early 1900s. Soulard's oldest buildings date to the 1830s, and most Lafayette Square homes were built before 1900. These brick homes and row houses often have tall chimneys with several flues, coal-era fireplaces, shared party walls, and original or missing liners. Commercial and multi-family buildings add rooftop access and safety requirements of their own.
Common problems we find in St. Louis City

- Unlined or deteriorated flues in 100-plus-year-old brick chimneys
