Air Duct Cleaning

Our technicians are expert in the removal of dust and contaminants within your ductwork.  Our super-charged dust removal system cleans both supply and return ducts.  Then our team will tackle the registers and diffusers in each room.

Air ducts should be cleaned annually, after exceptionally high periods of pollen, and especially after any construction has been done in a home.

Our Protocol: Source-Removal & Negative Pressure Extraction

Our field technicians utilize a high-capacity American Caddy Vac vacuum truck system to place your entire HVAC infrastructure under Negative Pressure. This ensures a sealed environment where no dislodged particulates can bypass the collection system into your living space. To protect your home's interior, we maintain a strict Surface Containment Protocol, utilizing specialized floor protection and shoe covers throughout the procedure.

Phase 1: Mechanical Agitation Using a series of pneumatic brushes and air-whips, we perform a systematic agitation of the supply and return trunk lines. This process dislodges cumulative debris, allergens, and construction dust from the internal duct walls, drawing them directly into our industrial-grade containment unit.

Phase 2: Component Decontamination We clean and sanitize all accessible registers, grilles, and the internal housing of the air handling unit. This restores the system to its "as-designed" cleanliness, reducing static pressure and improving the thermal transfer efficiency of your HVAC system.

Phase 3: Filtration & Verification Upon completion, we verify the integrity of the system's seals. The result is a clinically clean ventilation path, documented for your home’s environmental health records.

Technical Disclosure: Defining Air Duct Cleanliness

Protocol: Post-Remediation Standards The Mad Hatter Service Company follows the Source-Removal Methodology. This is a mechanical process designed to extract the maximum volume of accumulated particulates, debris, and microbial contaminants from your HVAC infrastructure.

1. Visual vs. Clinical Cleanliness

The client acknowledges that air duct cleaning is a remediation of the ventilation path, not a restoration of the duct material’s original aesthetic.

  • The Goal: Removal of all "non-adherent" particulate matter (dust, dander, construction debris, and allergens).

  • The Reality: Permanent staining, oxidation, or "smudging" on the interior of metal ductwork or fiberglass liners may remain visible after a successful remediation. These are surface discolorations that do not impact the air quality or mechanical efficiency of the system.

2. The "White Glove" Verification

Per industry standards, a duct is considered "clinically clean" when a visual inspection confirms the absence of significant particulate accumulation.

  • Verification: We utilize high-intensity lighting and mirror/camera arrays to verify that the internal surfaces of the trunk lines and branch ducts are free of debris.

  • Biological Limits: Standard mechanical cleaning removes the food source for mold and bacteria (dust), but it does not "sterilize" the air. If active microbial growth is suspected within the duct liners, we will provide a referral for specialized environmental testing.

3. System Re-Contamination

Air duct cleaning is a "snapshot in time."
